On 9 and 10 December in Amsterdam will be shown in the operation of semantic engines CMS Project Interactive Knowledge Stack
Milan, 23 November 2010 - Interactive Knowledge Stack (IKS), the open source project that has the objective of speeding up the adoption of semantic web technologies in content management systems, is organizing its second annual workshop in Amsterdam on 9 and 10 December. The workshop will provide a preview of some of the software components developed by the project, as Incubator Project to be launched within the Apache Software Foundation (ASF).
“Le dimostrazioni di software funzionanti e i primi casi di adozione, a distanza di meno di due anni dalla nascita del progetto, dimostreranno il potenziale che le tecnologie del web semantico offrono al mercato dei sistemi per la gestione dei contenuti”, afferma la portavoce italiana del progetto Valentina Presutti del CNR (Laboratorio STLab-ISTC). “Il nostro obiettivo per Amsterdam è proprio quello di dimostrare il valore delle nostre tecnologie per i clienti, gli sviluppatori e i fornitori di software di content management”.
Il primo giorno, ci saranno quattro sessioni sull’utilizzo del software di semantic enhancement di IKS, che inizieranno con un caso applicativo in the media and publishing platform based on CMS Nuxeo. The second session will look at search engine optimization (SEO), where semantic technologies are already providing significant added value for both developers and for users, and then the third semantic authoring editor with the new "rich text" of the project. The final session will examine the use of IKS as Linked Open Data infrastructure for any enterprise-class CMS.
The second day there will be practical sessions for developers of CMS, conducted by the development team of IKS, to verify the possibility to integrate IKS with third-party solutions through the development di piccoli prototipi pratici. I partecipanti riceveranno uno “Starter Kit” IKS per evitare di partire da una pagina vuota, e l’obiettivo è che al termine della giornata ciascun sviluppatore abbia in mano un prototipo funzionante.
Il Laboratorio STLab-ISTC del CNR è il principale responsabile e l’esecutore di tutte le attività di ricerca e sviluppo delle tecnologie di semantic web per la rappresentazione della conoscenza e il ragionamento automatico all’interno del progetto IKS (ontologie, linked data e ragionamento automatico), e – rispetto al programma di Amsterdam – ha sviluppato i servizi per la SEO.

Interactive Knowledge Stack (IKS) is an Open Source project that aims at speeding up the implementation of semantic web technologies in the CMS. Partially funded by a grant of 6.58 million euros from the European Union, the project is targeted at hundreds of small and medium-sized European companies developing technologies for content management and knowledge, and the development of an on-site technology that allows these companies to deliver intelligent solutions ready for the Semantic Web, which - at their volta – forniscano un’ampia gamma di software alle aziende che desiderano implementare siti e applicazioni che sfruttano i vantaggi del web semantico e offrano vantaggi significativi a milioni di utenti dei contenuti. IKS è sviluppato da un consorzio di sette partner di ricerca e sei partner industriali, e favorisce la partecipazione attiva al progetto da parte di aziende e individui.
